Shepreth Wildlife Park’s animal carers came to visit the CATS College GCSE students. The visit was organised by the Biology Dept as an extension to the work in class, about classification, adaptation and evolution. Students discussed the role the park plays in conservation and why it’s important.

This event has been run over a few years and the students really enjoyed handling the animals. The Visitors – Dean and Alex, brought in a tarantula, a hissing cockroach, giant African millipedes, a tegu lizard, a barn owl and an albino skunk.

The students were very enthusiastic about all of the animals – they were fascinated by the cockroaches, however they were much keener on holding the owl and the skunk, especially as the owl flew to their hand.
