Building on the continued investment that CSVPA makes in its students, this month Bill Watson, International Academic Consultant for UAL visited CSVPA to provide one-on-one portfolio advice, to better prepare students for their upcoming university interviews.
Bill started each day by making a presentation to groups of students at the college on “what UAL are looking for in a portfolio”. This was followed by individual student sessions which included a personal portfolio assessment, interview technique critique and of course, questions.
"Bill spent around forty-five minutes going through my portfolio with me. He gave me a lot of advice on how to structure the fluency of my portfolio. There is a big difference between the education system in the UK and Korea, so talking to him was very helpful. He is very friendly and easy to talk to. The advice will also help me with my applications to UCA and Glasgow, not just UAL. Not every school offers this kind of opportunity, it is very good for students as it’s very close to the process you go through at the real UAL interview. I feel a lot more confident now." Eun Sung Kim from South Korea
"Bill gave me a lot of advice about which UAL colleges were best for my subject and learning style, it has really helped me narrow down my choices. He told me about students who had been successful and gave examples of what those students had included in their portfolios. Bill explained that different UAL colleges expected to see different things within a portfolio. He also gave me interview technique advice. It was all extremely helpful!" Ali Khalili from Iran
