David Smith, the University of Cambridge's Director of Studies for History at Selwyn College came to give a special lecture at CATS College Cambridge.

David Smith, the University of Cambridge’s Director of Studies for History at Selwyn College, came to visit students at CATS College Cambridge. David led a session with our A2 historians, devoted to the theme of dictatorships in history.

David Smith described the special lecture as looking at “some of the great dictators in history, including Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini and Mao, and thought about whether this was a feature particularly of the twentieth century or of other eras as well”.

David makes regular visits to CATS College, as the President of the CATS College History Society he will give budding historians an opportunity to discuss their historical views and develop their critical thinking skills with a University of Cambridge Graduate Tutor. David also advises students on how to get into a top university and assists with the CATS College Oxbridge Summer School.

David’s regular input, with around three visits to CATS College each term, gives our students the opportunity to get specialist help with their university applications to highly competitive UK universities, and ultimately access their best choice university.
